Wakefield Church

Wakefield Church in West Yorkshire has numerous churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Wakefield is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dipping for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace attending at least once every month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the rationale for the decline is in simple terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it's easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Wakefield community then it is in reality surprising numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Wakefield to be a great spot to dwell, where persons get along, they assist each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Wakefield church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, considering his anti-gay speech-making in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good space to ruminate on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
