Mirfield Church

Mirfield Church in West Yorkshire has numerous churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Mirfield is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been sinking for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the cause for the decline is just that people don't have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it is easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Mirfield community then it's truly surprising numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Mirfield to be a wonderful location to be alive, where individuals get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Mirfield church and plea for change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-homosexual speech-making in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good spot to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
