Walberton Church

Walberton Church in West Sussex has a lot of churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Walberton is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been tumbling for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the cause for the decline is just that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it is easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches represent in our Walberton community then it's in reality remarkable numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Walberton to be a wonderful spot to live, where people get along, they help one another in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Walberton church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, in view of his anti-gay language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
