Steyning Church

Steyning Church in West Sussex has many churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Steyning is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been falling for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the basis for the decline is in basic terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it's straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches represent in our Steyning community then it's really surprising numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Steyning to be a splendid place to inhabit, where inhabitants get along, they help one another in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Steyning church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
