Midhurst Church

Midhurst Church in West Sussex has numerous churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Midhurst is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been sinking for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the grounds for the decline is just that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches represent in our Midhurst community then it's actually surprising figures are going down. Surely we all want our Midhurst to be a good place to dwell, where inhabitants get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Midhurst church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-gay speech-making in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good spot to reflect on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
