Billingshurst Church

Billingshurst Church in West Sussex has numerous churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Billingshurst is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been dropping for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the explanation for the decline is in basic terms that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it's straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Billingshurst community then it's truly astonishing numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Billingshurst to be a good location to dwell, where inhabitants get along, they help each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Billingshurst church and demand change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, considering his anti-homosexual language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
