Brora Church

Brora Church in Sutherland has numerous churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Brora is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been plummeting for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the basis for the decline is simply that people do not have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Brora community then it's truly shocking numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Brora to be a wonderful spot to live, where persons get along, they help one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Brora church and pressure for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly a soul wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-homosexual speech-making in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good place to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
