Ardgay Church

Ardgay Church in Sutherland has several churches for various religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Ardgay is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been falling for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the explanation for the decline is just that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Ardgay community then it's really amazing figures are going down. Surely we all want our Ardgay to be a wonderful spot to dwell, where persons get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Ardgay church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, numerous people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-gay language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
