West Byfleet Church

West Byfleet Church in Surrey has numerous churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and West Byfleet is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been tumbling for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the grounds for the decline is in basic terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it's easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches represent in our West Byfleet community then it's truly shocking numbers are going down. Surely we all want our West Byfleet to be a fantastic location to inhabit, where individuals get along, they assist one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your West Byfleet church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly a soul wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-homosexual language in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
