Sanderstead Church

Sanderstead Church in Surrey has various churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Sanderstead is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been tumbling for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once every month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the reason for the decline is in simple terms that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Sanderstead community then it is actually amazing numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Sanderstead to be a fantastic location to dwell, where inhabitants get along, they help one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Sanderstead church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-homosexual language in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful spot to be - a good place to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
