Reigate Church

Reigate Church in Surrey has numerous churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Reigate is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been dipping for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the cause for the decline is in basic terms that people do not believe in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Reigate community then it's in reality astonishing numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Reigate to be a wonderful location to inhabit, where people get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Reigate church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, impoverished and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, numerous people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-homosexual words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
