Chobham Church

Chobham Church in Surrey has various churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Chobham is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been tumbling for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the basis for the decline is in simple terms that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it's straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Chobham community then it is actually extraordinary figures are going down. Surely we all want our Chobham to be a fantastic location to be alive, where inhabitants get along, they assist one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Chobham church and pressure for change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-gay speech-making in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good spot to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
