Lavenham Church

Lavenham Church in Suffolk has several churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Lavenham is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been plummeting for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the explanation for the decline is just that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Lavenham community then it's truly extraordinary numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Lavenham to be a splendid location to be alive, where individuals get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Lavenham church and pressure for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly a soul desires to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good spot to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
