Hixon Church

Hixon Church in Staffordshire has various churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Hixon is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dipping for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the cause for the decline is in simple terms that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Hixon community then it's in reality astounding numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Hixon to be a fantastic location to inhabit, where persons get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Hixon church and pressure for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful position to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
