Eccleshall Church

Eccleshall Church in Staffordshire has a lot of churches for various religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Eccleshall is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been dipping for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the rationale for the decline is just that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Eccleshall community then it is really extraordinary figures are going down. Surely we all want our Eccleshall to be a good place to dwell, where people get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Eccleshall church and pressure for change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wants to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, feeble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, in view of his anti-gay words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful space to be - a good spot to contemplate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
