Burntwood Church

Burntwood Church in Staffordshire has a lot of churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Burntwood is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the reason for the decline is in basic terms that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Burntwood community then it's truly astonishing numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Burntwood to be a wonderful place to live, where people get along, they assist one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Burntwood church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul desires to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-gay words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet space to be - a good spot to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
