Barry Church

Barry Church in South Glamorgan has a lot of churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Barry is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dipping for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the grounds for the decline is simply that people don't have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Barry community then it's really astonishing numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Barry to be a wonderful spot to dwell, where people get along, they help each other in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Barry church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody desires to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-homosexual language in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful space to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
