Williton Church

Williton Church in Somerset has various churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Williton is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been plummeting for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the reason for the decline is in basic terms that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it's easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Williton community then it's truly astounding figures are going down. Surely we all want our Williton to be a fantastic location to be alive, where inhabitants get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Williton church and plea for change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, in view of his anti-homosexual words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful spot to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
