Taunton Church

Taunton Church in Somerset has a lot of churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Taunton is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been tumbling for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the rationale for the decline is in basic terms that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Taunton community then it is truly astounding figures are going down. Surely we all want our Taunton to be a fantastic spot to live, where individuals get along, they help one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Taunton church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-gay language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
