Somerton Church

Somerton Church in Somerset has a lot of churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Somerton is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been plummeting for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the reason for the decline is simply that people don't have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Somerton community then it is actually shocking figures are going down. Surely we all want our Somerton to be a wonderful place to dwell, where persons get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Somerton church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, considering his anti-homosexual rhetoric in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good space to reflect on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
