Whittington Church

Whittington Church in Shropshire has a lot of churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Whittington is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been falling for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace attending at least once every month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the basis for the decline is simply that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Whittington community then it is really astonishing figures are going down. Surely we all want our Whittington to be a great place to dwell, where inhabitants get along, they help each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Whittington church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual rhetoric in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good spot to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
