Whitchurch Church

Whitchurch Church in Shropshire has a lot of churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Whitchurch is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been dropping for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the explanation for the decline is in basic terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Whitchurch community then it's actually remarkable numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Whitchurch to be a good place to inhabit, where inhabitants get along, they help each other in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Whitchurch church and pressure for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good place to reflect on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
