Wemyss Bay Church

Wemyss Bay Church in Renfrewshire has numerous churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Wemyss Bay is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dipping for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace attending at least once every month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the grounds for the decline is in simple terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches represent in our Wemyss Bay community then it's in reality astounding figures are going down. Surely we all want our Wemyss Bay to be a wonderful location to inhabit, where individuals get along, they help one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Wemyss Bay church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay speech-making in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good spot to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
