Newtown Church

Newtown Church in Powys has many churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Newtown is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been sinking for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once per month, in spite of everything Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the rationale for the decline is simply that people don't have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Newtown community then it's truly startling numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Newtown to be a great place to live, where inhabitants get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Newtown church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-homosexual rhetoric in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
