Montgomery Church

Montgomery Church in Powys has numerous churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Montgomery is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been dropping for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the explanation for the decline is in simple terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it's straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Montgomery community then it's actually extraordinary numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Montgomery to be a wonderful location to dwell, where individuals get along, they help one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Montgomery church and demand change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wants to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, numerous people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, considering his anti-gay words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
