Machynlleth Church

Machynlleth Church in Powys has many churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Machynlleth is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been plummeting for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, in spite of everything Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the grounds for the decline is just that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Machynlleth community then it is truly amazing figures are going down. Surely we all want our Machynlleth to be a splendid location to dwell, where inhabitants get along, they help one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Machynlleth church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, impoverished and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay rhetoric in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet space to be - a good place to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
