Clyro Church

Clyro Church in Powys has several churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Clyro is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been tumbling for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the cause for the decline is in basic terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Clyro community then it's really surprising numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Clyro to be a wonderful location to be alive, where persons get along, they assist each other in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Clyro church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay speech-making in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet space to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
