Doune Church

Doune Church in Perthshire has several churches for different religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Doune is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been dropping for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the grounds for the decline is just that people do not believe in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Doune community then it is truly extraordinary numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Doune to be a wonderful location to dwell, where individuals get along, they assist each other in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Doune church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul desires to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, considering his anti-gay language in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful spot to be - a good spot to reflect on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
