Worksop Church

Worksop Church in Nottinghamshire has numerous churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Worksop is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been falling for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the reason for the decline is in basic terms that people do not believe in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it's easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Worksop community then it's actually startling numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Worksop to be a great spot to inhabit, where inhabitants get along, they assist each other in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Worksop church and pressure for change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, impoverished and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual rhetoric in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful space to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
