Nairn Church

Nairn Church in Morayshire has a lot of churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Nairn is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dropping for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once every month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the reason for the decline is just that people don't have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it's easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Nairn community then it's actually astonishing figures are going down. Surely we all want our Nairn to be a good location to dwell, where individuals get along, they assist one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Nairn church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul wants to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay rhetoric in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good spot to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
