Fochabers Church

Fochabers Church in Morayshire has several churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Fochabers is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been plummeting for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the basis for the decline is in basic terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Fochabers community then it's really extraordinary numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Fochabers to be a wonderful place to inhabit, where individuals get along, they assist each other in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Fochabers church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul desires to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, impoverished and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, in view of his anti-homosexual language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful spot to be - a good spot to ruminate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
