Elgin Church

Elgin Church in Morayshire has various churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Elgin is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been falling for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once every month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the rationale for the decline is in simple terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Elgin community then it's truly astounding figures are going down. Surely we all want our Elgin to be a good location to inhabit, where inhabitants get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Elgin church and plea for change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, impoverished and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, in view of his anti-gay language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good space to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
