Rainford Church

Rainford Church in Merseyside has numerous churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Rainford is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been tumbling for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the cause for the decline is simply that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Rainford community then it's in reality astonishing figures are going down. Surely we all want our Rainford to be a good place to inhabit, where people get along, they help one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Rainford church and pressure for change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, considering his anti-homosexual speech-making in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good spot to contemplate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
