Moreton Church

Moreton Church in Merseyside has many churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Moreton is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace attending at least once every month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the basis for the decline is just that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches represent in our Moreton community then it is in reality shocking numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Moreton to be a splendid place to dwell, where inhabitants get along, they assist each other in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Moreton church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul desires to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, in view of his anti-gay language in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful space to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
