Kirkby Church

Kirkby Church in Merseyside has numerous churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Kirkby is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dropping for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the basis for the decline is in basic terms that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Kirkby community then it is truly extraordinary numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Kirkby to be a wonderful spot to be alive, where people get along, they help each other in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Kirkby church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, feeble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay language in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
