Castle Donington Church

Castle Donington Church in Leicestershire has various churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Castle Donington is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been tumbling for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once per month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the cause for the decline is in basic terms that people do not believe in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Castle Donington community then it's truly remarkable numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Castle Donington to be a wonderful place to inhabit, where inhabitants get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Castle Donington church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, considering his anti-homosexual rhetoric in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good spot to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
