Rochdale Church

Rochdale Church in Lancashire has a lot of churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Rochdale is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been dropping for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the cause for the decline is in basic terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it's easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Rochdale community then it is in reality astounding numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Rochdale to be a fantastic location to be alive, where inhabitants get along, they help one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Rochdale church and pressure for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-homosexual words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
