Morecambe Church

Morecambe Church in Lancashire has several churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Morecambe is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been plummeting for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the explanation for the decline is in simple terms that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Morecambe community then it's actually startling figures are going down. Surely we all want our Morecambe to be a wonderful spot to live, where inhabitants get along, they assist each other in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Morecambe church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-homosexual words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful space to be - a good space to ruminate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
