Longridge Church

Longridge Church in Lancashire has several churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Longridge is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been falling for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the rationale for the decline is in basic terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Longridge community then it is in reality amazing figures are going down. Surely we all want our Longridge to be a splendid location to inhabit, where persons get along, they assist one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Longridge church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, in view of his anti-homosexual rhetoric in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good place to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
