Heywood Church

Heywood Church in Lancashire has various churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Heywood is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been falling for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the populace attending at least once every month, in spite of everything Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the explanation for the decline is in simple terms that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Heywood community then it is actually remarkable figures are going down. Surely we all want our Heywood to be a great place to dwell, where people get along, they assist one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Heywood church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, in view of his anti-gay language in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good place to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
