Accrington Church

Accrington Church in Lancashire has several churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Accrington is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been tumbling for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the basis for the decline is simply that people do not have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it's easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Accrington community then it is really astounding numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Accrington to be a splendid location to live, where inhabitants get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Accrington church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful space to be - a good space to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
