Hamilton Church

Hamilton Church in Lanarkshire has various churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Hamilton is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, in spite of everything Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the rationale for the decline is just that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Hamilton community then it is truly amazing numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Hamilton to be a great place to inhabit, where inhabitants get along, they help one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Hamilton church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay rhetoric in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good spot to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
