Tenterden Church

Tenterden Church in Kent has various churches for various religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Tenterden is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, in spite of everything Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the reason for the decline is in basic terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Tenterden community then it is really amazing figures are going down. Surely we all want our Tenterden to be a great location to dwell, where people get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Tenterden church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, impoverished and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful position to be - a good space to reflect on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
