Edenbridge Church

Edenbridge Church in Kent has a lot of churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Edenbridge is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been dropping for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once per month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the explanation for the decline is in simple terms that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Edenbridge community then it's actually surprising numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Edenbridge to be a fantastic spot to dwell, where people get along, they assist each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Edenbridge church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-gay speech-making in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good place to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
