Market Weighton Church

Market Weighton Church in Humberside has a lot of churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Market Weighton is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been dropping for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the grounds for the decline is just that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it's straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Market Weighton community then it's in reality shocking numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Market Weighton to be a fantastic place to inhabit, where individuals get along, they help one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Market Weighton church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul wants to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-gay language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good space to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
