Hoddesdon Church

Hoddesdon Church in Hertfordshire has numerous churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Hoddesdon is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been falling for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once every month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the basis for the decline is just that people don't have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Hoddesdon community then it is in reality extraordinary figures are going down. Surely we all want our Hoddesdon to be a great place to be alive, where persons get along, they assist one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Hoddesdon church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, feeble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, in view of his anti-homosexual words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good space to ruminate on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
