Brockenhurst Church

Brockenhurst Church in Hampshire has a lot of churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Brockenhurst is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been dipping for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the grounds for the decline is simply that people don't have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Brockenhurst community then it's really astonishing numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Brockenhurst to be a great location to dwell, where inhabitants get along, they help each other in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Brockenhurst church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-homosexual speech-making in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
