Capel Curig Church

Capel Curig Church in Gwynedd has many churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Capel Curig is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once per month, in spite of everything Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the reason for the decline is in basic terms that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Capel Curig community then it's really startling numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Capel Curig to be a good place to inhabit, where persons get along, they help one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Capel Curig church and pressure for change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-homosexual words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful position to be - a good spot to contemplate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
