Betws-y-Coed Church

Betws-y-Coed Church in Gwynedd has several churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Betws-y-Coed is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the reason for the decline is just that people do not have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Betws-y-Coed community then it is actually shocking numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Betws-y-Coed to be a wonderful spot to live, where inhabitants get along, they help one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Betws-y-Coed church and demand change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly a soul wants to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, feeble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful spot to be - a good spot to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
