Abersoch Church

Abersoch Church in Gwynedd has several churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Abersoch is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been dropping for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, in spite of everything Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the cause for the decline is in basic terms that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Abersoch community then it's actually surprising figures are going down. Surely we all want our Abersoch to be a good location to live, where individuals get along, they assist each other in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Abersoch church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good space to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
